How to connect carrier data 🚚

VHL Europe hands parcels over to carriers such as GLS, PPL, InPost or DPD. Foxdeli asks VHL which carrier actually delivers a parcel and tracks it accordingly.

  1. Have your VHL API key ready. It is the same key your system sends orders to VHL with. You won't find it in the VHL portal; if you don't have it, VHL (your sales representative) will issue it.
  2. Open the carrier connection form for VHL Europe and paste the API key.
  3. The Default VHL carrier ID field is optional. If you ship most parcels through one carrier, enter its numeric ID in VHL (e.g. 2 = GLS HU, 14 = PPL). Foxdeli then tries it first.

Tracking without login details

If you don't have login details, for example when you ship through a fulfillment service, tick Track without login details in the form. The parcels are then tracked through public tracking, the way the customer sees them. Foxdeli finds the parcel's carrier at VHL and tracks it through that carrier's public tracking. Some carriers have no public tracking (DPD Slovenia, Croatia, Austria, Poland and Slovakia, DHL, Speedy, Pošta Slovenije, Express One, Foxpost, Magyar Posta and others); their parcels are not tracked without an API key. For GLS, the postal code of the order address is used for tracking. Public tracking may show fewer parcel statuses than a connection with login details.

What VHL does not support yet

  • Delivery today: VHL reports a parcel's arrival at a depot the same way as its departure for delivery. That is why VHL parcels never get the "Delivery today" status and no delivery today message is sent.
  • Last pickup day: VHL does not send the date until which a parcel waits at the pickup point.
  • Pickup point statuses (stored for pickup, not picked up): with an API key only for GLS Hungary, GLS Slovenia, GLS Croatia, PPL and Urgent Cargus. When tracking without login details, the public tracking of the carrier reports them where it knows them.
