A **campaign** is an advertising banner that Foxdeli shows in delivery e-mails and on the Track & Trace page. Customers open these messages because of their shipment, so they see the banner at a moment when your e-shop is on their mind. It works well for a discount on the next purchase, a new collection or a loyalty program, for example. Clicking the banner takes the customer to a URL of your choice.

Campaigns are available in all plans, including Basic.

## Permanent and scheduled campaigns

- A **permanent campaign** has no period set. It is shown until you deactivate it. Only one permanent campaign can be active per market – when you activate another permanent campaign for the same market, the current one is deactivated.
- A **scheduled campaign** has a **“Display period”** set. During that period, it replaces the permanent campaign of its market in e-mails and on the Track & Trace page. When the period ends, the permanent campaign comes back on its own. You can have several active scheduled campaigns at the same time.

A typical setup: keep your regular banner as a permanent campaign and prepare a scheduled campaign for Black Friday or Christmas in advance. You then don’t have to switch anything manually.

## How to create a campaign

1. Go to **“Communication”** → [**“Campaigns”**](https://my.foxdeli.com/en/branding/campaigns) and click **“New campaign”**.
2. In the **“Basic information”** section, fill in the **“Campaign name”** and select the **“Market”** where the campaign should be shown. You cannot change the market of a saved campaign – to use the campaign in another market, duplicate it.
3. In the **“Display period”** section, leave the **“Show only in a set period”** switch off if you want a permanent campaign. For a scheduled campaign, switch it on and fill in the period (see [How to schedule a campaign](https://help.foxdeli.com/en/article/campaigns#how-to-schedule-a-campaign)).
4. In the **“E-mail”** section, switch on **“Show banner”**, fill in the **“Target URL”** and upload the **“Image”** and the **“Image for mobile”**.
5. In the **“Tracking page”** section, switch on **“Show banner”**, fill in the **“Target URL”** and upload the **“Image for desktop”** and the **“Image for mobile”**. Want the banner only in e-mails, or only on the Track & Trace page? Leave **“Show banner”** off in the other section.
6. Click **“Save”**. The new campaign is saved as inactive and its detail opens.
7. When you want the campaign to be shown, click **“Activate”** in the top right corner.

The banner is an image with a link. Any text, such as the size of the discount or a discount code, therefore has to be part of the image itself. Upload the images in JPG or PNG format. Recommended sizes:

| Where | Field | Recommended size |
| --- | --- | --- |
| E-mail | “Image” | 1200 × 400 px (portrait: 1200 × 800 px) |
| E-mail | “Image for mobile” | 1200 × 1200 px (portrait: 1200 × 1600 px) |
| Track & Trace | “Image for desktop” | 1600 × 680 px |
| Track & Trace | “Image for mobile” | 1200 × 1200 px (portrait: 1200 × 1600 px) |

By default, the banner sits below the ordered products, both in the e-mail and on the Track & Trace page. To move it above the products, use the template editor: **“Communication”** → [**“Mailing”**](https://my.foxdeli.com/en/branding/mailing) or [**“Tracking page”**](https://my.foxdeli.com/en/branding/tracking) → select a template → the **“Modules”** tab → **“Move banner above products”**.

## How to schedule a campaign

You can set the period in two ways:

- in the campaign detail, in the **“Display period”** section – then save the change with the **“Save”** button,
- in the campaign list, open the **⋯** menu next to the campaign and choose **“Schedule campaign…”** (or **“Edit period…”** for a campaign that already has a period). In the dialog, choose **“Save period”** or, for an inactive campaign, go straight for **“Save and activate”**.

1. Switch on **“Show only in a set period”**.
2. Under **“From”**, select the start date and **“Time”**. Times are offered in 15-minute steps; the default is 00:00.
3. Under **“To”**, select the end date and time. The time **23:59** means the end of the day. If you leave the end empty (or clear it with the **“No end”** button), the campaign is shown permanently from the start of the period.
4. Save the campaign and **activate it**. A scheduled campaign is shown only when it is active. You can activate it any time in advance – nothing changes until the period starts.

Example: Black Friday from 24 November 00:00 to 27 November 23:59. You can activate the campaign a week in advance, for instance. At 00:00 on 24 November, it replaces the permanent campaign, and at 00:00 on 28 November, the permanent campaign comes back.

_Prepare a seasonal banner, for Black Friday for example, as a scheduled campaign._

Below the fields, you can see which time zone you are entering the times in – it is your browser’s time zone, for example “All times are in the Europe/Prague time zone (Central European Time).” If a colleague opens the campaign in a different time zone, they see the same period converted to their own time.

Rules for the period:

- The start is required, the end is not. You cannot set an end without a start.
- The end must be after the start and must not be in the past.
- **“Activate”** is blocked while you have unsaved changes (“Save your changes first.”) or when the period has already ended (“The period has already ended. Change it first.”).

Before you save the change, the **“How the campaign will be shown”** box tells you when the campaign will be shown and which campaign it will replace at that time – or, the other way round, which campaign will be shown instead of it.

### When campaign periods overlap

The periods of scheduled campaigns in one market can overlap. During the overlap, the campaign shown is:

1. the one that **starts later**,
2. if they start at the same time, the one with the **shorter period**,
3. if they have the same period, the one that was **created later**.

Example: a Christmas campaign runs from 1 to 24 December and a “Free shipping” campaign from 10 to 12 December. From 10 to 12 December, “Free shipping” is shown because it starts later. After that, the Christmas campaign comes back. During the overlap, the Christmas campaign has the status “Replaced” in the list.

### Campaign statuses in the list

| Status | What it means |
| --- | --- |
| “Active” | A permanent campaign. It is shown whenever no scheduled campaign of the market is running. |
| “Inactive” | The campaign is not shown. |
| “Scheduled” | The campaign is active, but its period has not started yet. |
| “Running” | The period is running and the campaign is shown. |
| “Replaced” | The period is running, but another scheduled campaign of the same market is shown. |
| “Ended” | The period has ended and the campaign is no longer shown. |

For scheduled campaigns, the period is also shown below the status. For some campaigns, hovering over the status shows an explanation – for example, which campaign is currently shown instead.

### Test e-mail

You can check how the campaign will look in an e-mail even before its period starts. In the detail of a saved campaign with an e-mail banner, go to the **“E-mail”** section, click **“Send a test e-mail”**, select a language and enter the addresses. The test e-mail shows the saved version of the campaign, regardless of whether it is active or whether its period is currently running. You can send a test e-mail once your e-mail address is verified.

## Markets and languages

- Each campaign belongs to one market. Campaigns have no language versions – for a market with a different language, prepare a separate campaign with images in that language. The quickest way is to duplicate the campaign and choose a different market in the dialog (see [Duplicating templates, campaigns and workflows](https://help.foxdeli.com/en/article/duplicating-templates-campaigns-workflows)).
- A market without its own active campaign shows the campaign of the default market – including a scheduled one. If the default market has no active campaign either, no banner is shown.

## Good to know

- **What counts is the moment the e-mail is sent or the page is opened.** An e-mail gets the banner of the campaign that is valid at the time it is sent. E-mails that have already been sent keep their banner even after the period ends. An open Track & Trace page shows the new campaign after it is reloaded.
- **A scheduled campaign replaces the permanent one entirely** – in e-mails and on the Track & Trace page. If you want a banner in both channels during the period, switch on **“Show banner”** in the scheduled campaign and upload images for both the e-mail and the Track & Trace page. Wherever the scheduled campaign has the banner switched off, customers won’t see a banner during the period.
- **Previews in the editors** for e-mails and the Track & Trace page show the campaign that is valid right now.
- **Deactivating a permanent campaign** has to be confirmed in a dialog that tells you what customers will see instead. When you deactivate a scheduled campaign, the market’s permanent campaign is shown.
- **Deleting** is possible only for an inactive campaign. Deactivate an active campaign first. Deletion cannot be undone.

## Campaign statistics

- In the **“Campaigns”** list, you see **“Views”**, **“Clicks”** and **“CTR”** for the last 30 days for each campaign. Hover over a number to see the **“Unique”** and **“Total”** values.
- In the **“Dashboard”** section, you’ll find **“Banner clicks”**, **“Views”** and **“CTR”** for all campaigns.
- In **“Analytics”** → [**“Mailing”**](https://my.foxdeli.com/en/statistics/mailing) and [**“Tracking page”**](https://my.foxdeli.com/en/statistics/tracking), banner clicks are listed in the **“Click performance”** overview under the **“Advertisement Banner”** item.

Foxdeli adds UTM parameters to the banner link, including `utm_campaign` based on the campaign name. This lets you tell campaign visits apart in your own analytics too. For details, see the article [UTM parameters in links](https://help.foxdeli.com/en/article/utm-parameters-in-links).

## FAQ

- **How do I set up Black Friday so that the regular banner comes back afterwards?** Keep the regular banner as an active permanent campaign. For Black Friday, create a second campaign for the same market, set its period and activate it. When the period ends, the permanent campaign comes back on its own.
- **Why isn’t my scheduled campaign showing?** Check its status in the campaign list. The campaign may be inactive (“Inactive”), or its period has not started yet (“Scheduled”) or has already ended (“Ended”). If its status is “Replaced”, another campaign that starts later is being shown during the overlap.
- **Can I have the banner only on the Track & Trace page?** Yes. In the **“E-mail”** section, leave **“Show banner”** off and the banner won’t appear in e-mails. It works the same the other way round.
- **Can I reuse last year’s campaign?** Yes. Duplicate the campaign – the copy takes over the images, links and period. Change the period to this year’s dates and activate the copy.
- **What is the difference between a campaign and an info banner?** A campaign is an image with a link, and you set it up for a whole market. An [info banner](https://help.foxdeli.com/en/article/info-banner) is text in an e-mail or Track & Trace page template that you fill in for individual statuses.
